Reagen Nelson, Certified Rolfer

Rolfing is a form of Deep Tissue bodywork that deals with MyoFascial tissue. It has the ability to alleviate pain and tension by reorganizing fascia/connective tissue.  There are two layers of this tissue, one is right under the skin that helps veins and nerves glide easily, the other surrounds our muscles so they can glide against each other. This latter MyoFascial tissue gets misaligned with trauma, accidents, constant usage, and wear and tear. Rolfing helps to put the MyoFascial tissue back in alignment to relieve pain, tightness, pressure, and stress of muscles. There are many common benefits to Rolfing, including but not limited to: stress relief, soft tissue repair, structural realignment, improved athletic performance, fibromyalgia healing, TMJ pain relief, chronic headaches healing, back pain healing, and enhanced wellbeing.

Rolfing is traditionally done in a ten session series, which you’re welcome to book here at Mountain Spirit. Call us anytime to schedule! (505) 988-2449

Reagan’s Biography

Reagan was raised right here in Santa Fe. As someone who loves cooking, she was delighted to become a chef and has worked at some of the finest restaurants the City Different has to offer.

While working in the hectic food industry, Reagan found Rolfing. "I was in chronic pain from working long hours and constantly standing for long periods of time. The first time I went to see a Rolfer I was not sure what was going to happen, I was just happy to think about living without pain. I got up from the table feeling energetic and alive. I was able to work all day and night without pain, it was an amazing feeling to have."

She completed her studies at the Rolfing Institute of Structural Integration in Boulder, Colorado. Reagan brings with her a giving and nurturing spirit, and we are so happy to have her as part of our team.

Background on Rolfing:

Rolfing® structural integration is named after its creator, Dr. Ida P. Rolf. Dr. Rolf received her Ph.D. in biochemistry from Columbia University in 1920.and furthered her knowledge of the body through her scientific work in organic chemistry at the Rockefeller Institute. Her extensive search for solutions to family health problems led her to examine many systems that studied the effect of structure on function, including yoga, osteopathy and chiropractic medicine. Dr. Rolf combined her research with her scientific knowledge to stimulate a deeper appreciation of the body’s structural order, resulting in the theory and practice of Rolfing.
