Laura Merrigan, Certified Nurse Practitioner
Laura specializes in Family Practice with an emphasis on adolescent and adult primary care. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. She then obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing through New Mexico State University and her Masters of Science in Nursing at the University of New Mexico. Laura is now dually board-certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Laura’s passion and primary experience as a registered nurse was Oncology. This offered the perfect balance between her love of biology and nursing. Laura worked as an inpatient and outpatient Oncology RN for four years, accompanying and supporting patients on their journey. She continues to maintain her certification as a nationally certified Oncology Nurse through the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Laura’s primary objective is to empower patients to be their own health advocates. Through education and early interventions, she hopes to prevent many acute and chronic health problems. For the past year, Laura has provided care to patients in both the primary care and walk-in clinic environment. She is excited to have the opportunity to work with the team at Mountain Spirit to provide a holistic approach to primary care in Santa Fe.
Heidi Honegger Rogers DNP, FNP-C, APHN-BC
Heidi Honegger Rogers DNP, FNP-C, APHN-BC is a family nurse practitioner, advanced practice holistic nurse and assistant professor in the UNM college of Nursing. She teaches in the family nurse practitioner program and specializes in adolescent and adult health and has 15 years of experience working with people recovering from addiction. She uses her knowledge of Western medicine and her experience with complementary, alternative and indigenous healing modalities as well as the holistic nursing framework to partner with patients along their healing path.
Heidi earned her bachelor’s and master’s of nursing at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and has worked as a family nurse practitioner for 18 years in Los Angeles, Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Espanola. She received her doctorate in nursing practice from the University of Colorado in 2015.
As an assistant professor, she is involved in the clinical education of the next generation of UNM nurse practitioner and nurse midwifery students. She feels it is important that advanced practice nurses have experience working with people from the holistic framework, and she hopes to improve access to holistic primary care services across New Mexico.
