Laura Merrigan, Certified Nurse Practitioner

Laura specializes in Family Practice with an emphasis on adolescent and adult primary care. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. She then obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing through New Mexico State University and her Masters of Science in Nursing at the University of New Mexico. Laura is now dually board-certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). Laura’s passion and primary experience as a registered nurse was Oncology. This offered the perfect balance between her love of biology and nursing. Laura worked as an inpatient and outpatient Oncology RN for four years, accompanying and supporting patients on their journey. She continues to maintain her certification as a nationally certified Oncology Nurse through the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation. As a Family Nurse Practitioner, Laura’s primary objective is to empower patients to be their own health advocates. Through education and early interventions, she hopes to prevent many acute and chronic health problems. For the past year, Laura has provided care to patients in both the primary care and walk-in clinic environment. She is excited to have the opportunity to work with the team at Mountain Spirit to provide a holistic approach to primary care in Santa Fe.
