Meghan began providing Medical Massage Therapy at Mountain Spirit in 2008 with part time work, and within a few months patient demand quickly expanded her schedule to a full time career. Influenced by her spa experience as well as her coursework in Medical Massage, Meghan integrates relaxing treatments with highly specified, therapeutic touch. She excels at providing focused treatments for a variety of acute and chronic musculoskeletal imbalances.
After moving to Seattle in 2011 to study at the renowned Bastyr University, Meghan returned at least biannually to meet her high patient demand. She completed her Bachelors of Science in Herbal Science in June of 2013 and delved deeply into both the historical and modern uses of medicinal plants & also biochemistry, anatomy including cadaver lab, pharmacology, herb and drug interactions, microbiology, disease processes, ethnobotany, plant identification and herbal research.
Meghan continues her work at the clinic as a Massage Therapist and has also expanded her offerings to include detailed herb consultations for optimal health and wellness. These 30-60 minute sessions are an opportunity for a person to receive personalized herbal, nutritional and lifestyle recommendations for a wide variety of health concerns. Meghan Henshaw grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. She moved north at the age of 18 to live in the woods and attend Northland College, where she majored in Conflict Resolution and Mediation Training before becoming interested in Sustainable Agriculture. Her environmental studies led to her interest in herbal medicine, especially understanding how plants facilitate healing within the body. Her interest in Holistic Medicine inspired her to study massage at the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts. It was here in Santa Fe that she completed a 700-hour curriculum in massage, and became a NM state Licensed Massage Therapist.
Her studies at NMAHA included courses in: Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology of Injury and Disease, Kinesiology, Medical Massage, Shiatsu, as well as Therapeutic and Swedish Massage techniques. Meghan became Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in 2006 and initially began her work at the Bishops Lodge Resort spa with specialities in hot stone, pregnancy and deep tissue massage, before joining the Mountain Spirit Clinic Team.
