Dr. Colleen Burke, DOM, L.Ac
Dr. Burke, earned her Master of Oriental Medicine degree from Yo San University in Los Angeles, CA in 1998. She is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (NM), a Licensed Acupuncturist (CA), a Nationally Certified Diplomate of Acupuncture (NCCAOM), and a Nationally Certified Diplomate of Chinese Herbology (NCCAOM). Her undergraduate degree in Psychology is from UC Santa Barbara.
In practice for almost 20 years in NM and CA, Colleen combines modern-day techniques like blood testing, functional medicine, and specific, researched nutrition, with age-old wisdom like traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture, herbal medicine, sacred geometry, aromatherapy, energy healing and intuition, to provide individualized care for her patients.
Colleen's journey as a health care provider began with her own health issues as result of taking 15 courses of antibiotics in a single year and subsequently becoming very ill. Acupuncture and nutrition were her saviors and she decided to become a practitioner, enrolling in Chinese Medical School in 1995 which began her rewarding career of helping others. 20 years or so later, a diagnosis of Hashimoto's Disease (autoimmune hypothyroid) led her to deeply study functional medicine and the autoimmune paleo nutritional approach to reverse this disease in herself, and which she now incorporates into her patient care when needed.
Colleen is also passionate about helping people connect to their innate heart wisdom and true selves via Esoteric Acupuncture, the profound teachings of her mentor, Dr. Mikio Sankey. In a nutshell, this method utilizes patterns of sacred geometry on the body to promote Spiritual Wellness, which in turn promotes mental and physical wellness as well.
"I focus on getting you relief now AND, more importantly, delve deeper to discover any underlying root causes so you can ultimately heal and be your best self in this world. That's my favorite thing to do - to help you be your best self. It would be my great honor and pleasure to work with you."
